This research represents an analytical reading of the critical texts written in Colombia regarding the art of noted and most important 18th century painter, Gregorio Vásquez Ceballos. It covers the first monographic study by Groot Noticia biográfica de Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos, pintor granadino del siglo XVIII published in 1859 to the 21st century. The intention is to follow the critical thinking around offering a new light in the history of art criticism in Colombia as well as a guide to this important artist intended as a critical study of the painter and his art.
